Wheeler Army Airfield

Wheeler Army Airfield, just 20 miles from the state capital of Honolulu, is home to the headquarters of U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii. USAG-HI operates 22 Army installations and subinstallations in Hawaii and provides quality installation management service and support for more than 98,000 Army and civilian personnel, as well as military family members and retirees, assigned to Fort Shafter, Tripler Army Medical Center, Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Airfield, the Pohakuloa Training Area, and other subinstallations throughout the islands of Oahu and Hawaii. read more

Schofield Barracks

Centrally located on Oahu, on the eastern slope of the Waianae Mountain Range, Schofield Barracks is named in honor of Lt. Gen. John M. Schofield, who, in 1872, recognized the strategic importance of Oahu to the defense of the United States. Construction was begun on the barracks in 1909.
